Rural Craft Revival wants to bring modern handmade crafts to restaurants, offices and shops in Downtown Hood River and throughout the Columbia Gorge via a traveling toy capsule vending machine!

Do you remember the toy capsule vending machines inside grocery store entrances? As a kid, didn’t you love popping in some quarters and getting a surprise toy?

We want to bring that excitement and enthusiasm to people of all ages by filling a toy capsule vending machine with tiny handmade crafts! The machine will then travel on a rotating schedule to art galleries, restaurants, coffee shops and office buildings.

Each 2” capsule would also contain a slip of paper that reads “Thank you for supporting the local creative economy! Learn more at www.ruralcraftrevival.com” with a QR code that links to this page on our website.

Rural Craft Revival will be accepting donations of small, handmade items from crafters in exchange for listing their name, company name, website link and an image of their donated items on this page.

What do you make?
Floral arrangements, terrariums, succulent gardens, wedding invitations and greeting cards

What or who inspires you?
Design Sponge, Floret Flower Farm, Studio Choo, & local floral designers.

How did you get started?
I started out selling flowers by the stem out of a cart on Hawthorne street last spring and now I have my own little retail/studio space!

What are your favorite materials to work with?
flowers, air plants, succulents, ferns, glass and paper.

Do you consider yourself a crafter, artist or designer?
Could be any one of the three depending on the project I’m working on.

When did you know you were a ‘maker’?
I went to school for architecture and only wanted to do the hands on components of the project like model making and despised working on autocad or 3d modeling programs.

Apart from creating things, what do you do?
I also work at Bonneville Hot Springs as a server/bartender, go hiking around the gorge with my boyfriend and our dog, and just finished planting my vegetable gardens

It is a perfect place to shop for one of a kind goods in a casual environment where you have the opportunity to the makers in person, talk about their handmade goods and creative processes, as well as craft your own take home D.I.Y. project at one of the various workshops!

Rural Craft Revival is a modern twist on the conventional craft fair! Each individual fair is juried to curate a show that best represents the indie craft nature of the event. Our goal is to have a balanced mix of vendors in each category – jewelry, clothing, bath and body, paper goods, ceramics, artwork, plush, food, etc.

We always welcome new applicants and love to see what new items our past vendors are working on!
